About the work
'Vladimir K.' is from the series ‘Exercises in Freedom. Chapter 2: Russia’.
This ongoing project explores notions of migration, sexuality and relativity of freedom through mergence of photography and choreographed performances.
‘Chapter 1: Netherlands’, presented at Best of Graduates in 2019, was a look at a foreign land through the eyes of a migrant.
In turn, Chapter 2 charts the psychology of repatriation to an increasingly isolated, politically paralysed and homophobic society.
Its social aspect aside, the series remains a research on borders between stillness and movement.
